 The Children
We work with 45 children from 6 to 14 years old, the majority is under the responsibility of single mothers. All of them live in the aldeas situated south of Antigua (Santa Ana, San Cristobal el Bajo, El Calvario and San Pedro Las Huertas).
Although we worked in the past with children who never had contact with the schooling system, every child that is part of the Semillero at this moment is attending school (public or private system) in the morning and goes to the Semillero in the afternoon. Different rooms are attributed to different age groups but we encourage exchanges between children during the workshops and the activities. Older children often help the younger.
The Semillero is the ideal place to share great joys, and sometimes small sorrows, hence each child finds a healthy and pleasant environment to develop himself. |
